Westin Bayshore, International Suite 1601 Bayshore Drive Vancouver, BC V6G 2V4
Stripping away all of the existing walls, finishes, ceilings, fixtures, mechanical systems and most importantly, asbestos abatement was the first step. Reconcepting the Suite as an important destination with visual axial vistas was the next. Planning included a Master Suite and spa quality Master Bath with soaking tub stacking on a two person spa shower, glass vessel sinks and separate water/closet bidet room. The Master Bedroom’s clean ivory palette additionally boasts two separate LCD sets with headsets on either side of the bed enabling the Guest and their companion to watch different programs. The Suite additionally hosts a Double Guestroom with an ample walk-in closet/Dressing Area and five fixture bath. Lastly, a den with pull out sofa and full bath was included for traveling security details that need close proximity to their clients. The Entry Foyer is highlighted by rich wood flooring and a hanging sculpture by noted ceramist Chris Garafolo. Stairs in the entry lead to a tremendous axial view of the Grand Salon which stacks on the Exterior Terrace that overlooks Stanley Park, the Bay and distant mountains. The Grand Salon includes two separate large seating areas for gatherings or entertaining anchored by a focal wall of millwork bookcases, a rich chocolate stone linear strip flame fireplace and a large decorative mirror that doubles as a plasma TV. Artist Marc Petrovic created a commissioned installation of blown glass canoes and navigation pins playing off the Suite’s prominent location next to the water and the concept of traveling.
