Anderson/Miller, Ltd. was selected to redesign the Lobby and Essence restaurant at the Westin Calgary and was inspired by the natural figures, hues and tones beyond the city limits. A palette of earth-tone upholstery and textural wood grains fill the Lobby seating group, accented by organic patterned pillows and Japanese maple millwork detailing. Axial “views” played an important role in the reorganization of the spaces at the property. The guest is directed upon entry toward the elliptical Reception space and further led to the Lobby Concourse and Essence Restaurant by a focal sculptural element of an abstracted tree. At the restaurant entry, natural walnut panels and flooring guide the guest to the cool blue tones within. The seating arrangement allows for this American-style eatery to easily cater to impromptu business meetings or to accommodate large groups. Soft hues envelop the room, calling for a relaxing and overall enjoyable dining experience.
