Lake Michigan Residence

Designed for a long standing client, this Lake Michigan residence was conceived as a home meant to endure. The goal was not to create something new for its own sake, but to design a place that feels historically grounded, emotionally familiar, and fully at ease within its setting.

The architecture draws from colonial revival traditions, expressed through a symmetrical facade, crisp white clapboard siding, and deep green shutters. The composition is deliberate and balanced, giving the home a quiet coastal presence that feels as though it has always belonged on the site. Planning was driven by the sweep of the property and the relationship to the lake, with sightlines and room layouts carefully oriented to capture views from nearly every space.

Inside, the architecture and interiors work as a single, cohesive language. Traditional detailing is paired with a sense of warmth and ease, resulting in rooms that feel refined but never formal. Spaces flow naturally into one another, unified by soft natural light, layered textures, and a restrained, timeless palette. Warm wood floors ground the interiors, while creamy white millwork creates a bright, welcoming backdrop for daily life.
