At McCormick Square, Marriott Marquis Chicago connects a modern glass tower with the historic ABC Building through a unified interior vision. Anderson Miller collaborated with Gensler to create a hospitality experience rooted in the ethos of Chicago: strong, straightforward, and grounded in material honesty.

Natural finishes including quarter-cut oak, honed granite, and plaster define the tower interiors. In contrast, the ABC Building embraces a more layered, historically responsive approach. Reception millwork integrates with the architecture, inspired by deconstructivist forms that guide movement through strong axial view corridors. These geometries are echoed in custom furniture and lighting, balancing structure with softness.

Ballrooms on the upper levels feature faceted ceiling planes designed for visual rhythm and unlimited rigging flexibility. Custom flooring and fabric wall panels bring subtle texture and warmth, while pre-function areas take advantage of dramatic west-facing exposures, anchored by a sculptural ceiling installation referencing early Chicago ornament.

At the building’s southern tip, the 5,000-square-foot M Club lounge offers a range of hospitality experiences, including a full-service bar, casual workstations, and a seasonal terrace with panoramic city views. Guestrooms throughout the property are outfitted in quiet gray and white palettes, reinforcing a calm and contemporary tone.

A curated art program brings together dozens of works by Chicago-based artists, with QR codes integrated into signage to invite guest interaction through an on-site digital art walk. Custom lightbox artwork and in-room video storytelling, developed with AudioTree, extend this engagement into the guestrooms.

From private boardrooms to the expansive ballrooms, every space reflects a design language that supports connection, discovery, and expression.
