Located in the heart of San Francisco’s historic Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 2620 underwent a full guestroom and suite renovation designed to reflect the area’s shipyard legacy and industrial charm. The design borrows visual language from the surrounding wharf, integrating it into each detail of the guest experience.
Raw, textural materials and custom finishes set the tone. Guestrooms feature blackened and brushed bronze metals, rivet detailing, and light fixtures built with nostalgic exposed LED bulbs, caged glass, and hand-finished components. These elements echo the tough, working character of the waterfront and bring its spirit indoors.
The palette is kept cool and neutral, with minimal primary color accents layered through textiles and finishes to soften the space. Original art installations carry a strong narrative thread. In guestrooms, artwork includes metal and wood panels with distressed paint and signage inspired by wharf iconography.
In the specialty suites, photography of neon signs from Chinatown adds a distinctly San Francisco perspective. Whimsical sculptural objects such as glittered streetcars and water towers appear throughout the rooms, created by artists from Chicago’s Project Onward — a nonprofit supporting artists with disabilities. These handcrafted details animate the built-in entertainment units and celebrate the city’s personality through playful contrast and craft.
