The drake
During a particularly cold spell in Chicago, a pipe burst and damaged existing carpet throughout the Grand Ballroom, French Room, and connecting prefunction areas. AML was tasked with quickly designing and executing a new custom carpet pattern which was decidedly different than the previous design while still working with the existing architectural finishes and undamaged portions of the lobby. For the Grand Ballroom, we elected to incorporate a truly grand pattern in honor of the rich detailing of the room and long history of the property. For the French Room, we chose to nod to the French theme with a sprawling pattern with various leaves and rope motifs to achieve a more contemporary, yet decidedly baroque design.
